Clinical Aspects of Buckwheat Allergose

Abstract
The followings are to be especially mentioned as the most distinguishing traits of the buckwheat allergose.
1) Among such hypersensitivity manifestations with buckwheat as asthmatic attacks, urticarial eruption, gastrointestinal disorders, nasal symptoms or congestion of conjunctiva, the boundary line can not be drawn.
2) The manifestations developed both when the allergenic substances invade into the vital body through mouth and when through air passage.
3) Judging from the results of various kinds of allergolcgical examinations, the hypersensitivity manifestations are attributed to the allergic mechanisms based on the antigen-antibody reaction in the strict sense of the word. And the buckwheat allergose is considered to be the model of the type I allergy (that is Ig E dependent type) proposed by Cooms and Gell.
4) The antigenity of buckwheat is extremely strong, and the hyposensitization treatment with buckwheat extract must net easily be applied for fear of a severe and dangerous reaction due to the injection of the buckwheat extract.
